Radio Station Format Definition: Ethnic
This format refers to stations that serve the interests of ethnic
or international communities primarily through news and talk
programming. These stations are categorized according to the group
they serve, regardless of the station's geographical location. Such
stations are popular in the US and Canada which have large pockets of
immigrant settlers. Often, ethnic programming can be found as part of
the schedule of a variety station or college station. Some such
multicultural stations represent different ethnicities. However if the
particular ethnic population is large enough, then there will often be
a station in the community to serve them.
